What in the World is “Wawa?”

Wawa is definitely a perk of living on the east coast.  We are talking the mother of all convenience stores.  They have a plethora of food items and drinks to choose from and they are open 24 hours.  They are generally well staffed so that you rarely have to stand in line for any length of time (even when you come in with a group of 20 teens).  Their restrooms are always tidy and you don’t have to deal with that disgusting gas station bathroom normalcy.  Of course, their hand dryers could cause a hurricane, but hey, they dry your hands fast!  lol

On top of their cleanliness and great customer service, they normally have the cheapest gas around.  Definitely a great addition to any town.  🙂  They are such a great chain, that there are gas station Wawas and non-gas station Wawas.  They have their own brand of food and for a convenience store, their prices are reasonable.   Wawa is so popular that they even have gift cards.  These are awesome as they can be used for gas or food.

There are several things about a Wawa that make it the best.  First of all, they are well-known for their coffee and since there is a distinct shortage of good coffe shops (such as Starbucks), they do really well in the coffee area.  When you walk into any Wawa, this wonderful aroma of freshly brewed coffee greets you.  This is because they have an amazing coffee bar that has dozens of pots of fresh coffee.  Since coffee is their forte, their cappuccinos are awesome.  And they have more choices than the usual three, which makes it even better.

Coffee bar. Half of them are empty because it is near the end of the day. In the mornings, they are all full (well until the people drink all of it).

Secondly, they have a Hot Sandwich counter.  This counter has multiple choices for different sandwiches, both hot and cold.  They are really good too!  I like them better than Subway.  Their prices are really reasonable and many people get lunch or dinner as takeout from Wawa (I confess, that we have done it before).   They also have soups and a variety of other good food stuffs.

Thirdly, Wawa even sells fresh fruit!  You can buy it by the piece and pick up a little nutrition while traveling.  I love this as sometimes you don’t really feel like eating junk food.  Wawa gives a nice alternative.  They also sell yougurt, little snack bowls of fruit or pepperoni and crackers, and stuff like lunchables.

Fresh fruit and yogurt! Yum!

Fourthly, they have a “real shake” dispenser that dispenses shakes made of real ice cream.  They also have a smoothie machine.  Yum!  And, of course, they have the regular sodas, icees, tea, etc.

Next time you are in the mood for a steaming cup of coffee, or a healthy tasting sandwich, stop in at Wawa!  You’ll be pleasantly surprised.  Of course, maybe I should say that the next time you are on the east coast!  🙂
