Thanksgiving Special

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!  I’m really enjoying my stay in California.  I’ve spent some great time with my family (they continually make me laugh), and was able to hang out with three friends.  Pretty good for only 6 days…

This morning as we were looking at some old family pictures, there was a knock on our door.  We all looked at one another in confusion as questions started flying, “Were we expecting anyone?  Did anyone invite someone over?”  You know, the normal questions that you ask when someone knocks on your door on a holiday.  Although, come to think of it, unless you have invited family or friends over, no one really knocks on your door.

My brother swings the door open.  “Hi.”  Says the stranger on the other side.
“Are you the father of the family?” he asks while peering through the doorway at my dad.
Dad:  “Umm…yes….”
Salesman:  “I’m from Oakview Memorial Park.”
Dad:  Confusion written all over his face.
Salesman:  “Are you interested in purchasing a plot or plots?”
Dad:  “Ummm….not today, thank you.”
Salesman:  “We have a Thanksgiving Special!”
Dad: “Umm…no thanks.”
Salesman:  “Happy Thanksgiving.”
Dad: “Bye”

Dad and Rebekah look at each other with identical quizzical and shocked expressions.  “Cemetery plots on Thanksgiving?  Okkaaayyyy.”

Meanwhile, the other men in the house were busy “shooting people.”  Maybe we needed some plots after all.

  1. That is quite random, LOL!

  2. Hahaha, really? That’s so funny. I thought it was gonna be someone from one of the cemeteries you visited lol

  3. I know. It was so strange. We got quite a good laugh out of it. 🙂
